The desire
Many GIS applications currently exist at ArcelorMittal Ghent. These were made with an older framework that is showing its age and working slowly. Geographic data are usually of limited intelligence or available only as technical drawings.
ArcelorMittal wants more assurance regarding data quality, the use of supporting technologies and of an up-to-date GIS architecture. ArcelorMittal envisions a well-founded future vision for GIS toward integration, at the site level and globally overarching for the group.
Arcelormittal uses the modern Angular Framework along with Openlayers, on which new applications can easily be added.
Geo Solutions in action
Geo Solutions is analyzing ArcelorMittal’s current GIS applications and comparing them to current needs. Some legacy applications are being migrated and new applications are being developed.
Geo Consultants
Our Business Analysts and Solution Architects are working on a future vision for GIS, where ArcelorMittal can evolve towards for Ghent specifically and for Arcelor globally. They analyze different technology solutions for GIS and provide advice appropriate to ArcelorMittal’s needs, requirements and future vision.
They then work out a completely new GIS architecture, scalable to a more demanding GIS landscape. The entire GIS system at ArcelorMittel was built in OpenSource GIS, deployed and maintained by Geo Solutions. There are several applications for which their GIS system is used.
The value
ArcelorMittal uses the modern Angular Framework along with Openlayers, on which new applications can easily be added. A new, generic basic component is made up. From here the existing applications are rebuilt in a new look and at the same time unnecessary and little-used applications are phased out or merged with other applications.
